I thought the same workaround, however the question is I see you are suggesting me backing up current GTA 4 and EFLC installation folders BEFORE launching Steam Client to prevent Steam from updating/overwriting current installation to the latest Rockstar Launcher/Social Club version. That is why I am NOT going online with Steam so far recently. So Steam will not update the game and you will be able to continue playing the version of GFWL that has the achievements of Xbox Live, Leaderboards, Multiplayer and more songs on the radio. I recommend that you copy the folder of GTA IV and GTA EFLC to anywhere on your computer, it will be possible to launch both games normally through "LaunchGTAIV.exe" and "LaunchEFLC.exe". If you go online on Steam you will be required to update the game to play it. I strongly think they are leading people to interest in piracy to eliminate that hassle. If I switch Steam client to online again, will I still be able to launch and play the game with existing GFWL profile keeping current configuration as is? Or the game will update itself again to make us sign up RSGC? I do not want to install and sign up for Rockstar Social Game Club for the game that I already own. I haven't got the latest change yet and I did not update to the newest version by keeping Steam Client offline. I had been launching the game with offline GFWL profile until the March 2020 update for many years. This version works perfectly (I don't know if multiplayer works) but I can be sure that it is still possible to unlock the remaining achievements of the Xbox Live version, I did it! The game Resident Evil 5 previously used GFWL but it has been updated to SteamWorks but developer Capcom allows you to access the old version of GFWL via a "beta" code. If you uninstall from Steam you will need to re-add the registry entries to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\rockstar games\EFLC (or update to new game location) to run the backup through LaunchEFLC.exe.Įdit3: For those who have not backed up their keys and lost them, check out my tutorial on how to get a GFWL key. Any fix? (Even with the backups there is unlikely to be any online community though.) Game loads intro but then crashes before main menu. However I uninstalled EFLC in Steam and then tried to run the backup through the EFLC launcher. The backup of GTAIV starts from the launcher and GWFL still works. Originally posted by GTG:I backed up both GTAIV and EFLC. for remembering this very important detail.)Įdit2: For those who are having problems with EFLC crashing in the menu, you can try to fix it with the GTG tip So back up your current copies of the game before it's too late!Įdit: Also, do not forget to backup your CD-Key, if you have never activated your game or format your HD you will need to type it in to log into your GFWL account. But only if it is possible to unlock the remaining achievements on Xbox Live is it worth it for anyone who wants to do so. So it may be possible after the update to still connect to your Xbox Live account in these versions being able to unlock the remaining achievements and who knows even the online content (multiplayer and leaderboards) is still available normally. However, it is possible to run the current version of the game without Steam open and without an internet connection by running "LaunchGTAIV" and "LaunchEFLC" in its root folder. Probably Rockstar will not give any official way to access the GFWL version of the game to unlock the remaining achievements on Xbox Live. With this next update that will arrive next month, the two games will be unified and lost Games For Windows Live preventing the possibility of accomplishing Xbox Live achievements and accessing online content (multiplayer and leaderboards) in addition to losing some songs from radio.
